John Farrar was President of the Conference and the other signatories, John Beecham, Elijah Hoole, G. Osborn and Wm. Arthur were General Secretaries of the Wesleyan Methodist Missionary Society. The letter conveys the decisions of the Conference about "Australasian and Polynesian missions being constituted a district affiliated Connexion, having a Conference of its own" and specifying appointments and other arrangements.
